Day 4: Hard time concentrating at work

I don't know what was up today at work, but I just couldn't concentrate. There wasn't one anything that I could blame it on either! Oh well, the day is over and I did okay on the calorie thing. I did have a candy bar that I shouldn't have had, but you win some you lose some.

We got a Wii this afternoon, and I spent most of the evening with my son getting set up on Wii Fit. Boy was that harder than it looked. Had a blast doing the Hula Hoops, and hopefully burned some calories as well.

Not too many words today.....I'm ready for bed. Storm came through last night and woke me a couple of different times. Interrupted sleep is the worst!

Sleep well, kimsue

Day 3; Organic.....

Well, the day started off on track. I got up and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, and felt a sense of accomplishment. My food consumption was not as I'd planned, but let's face it....things change. We live in a very organic world. People, places and things change. If we can't adapt to that change, we're sunk! So be it. I still didn't go absolutely crazy, and for that I'm proud.

My plans for this trip had been to try scrapping when tempted to eat. Thus far, I've spent most of my time on facebook. It's so fun to connect and re-connect with friends. There's just something about seeing old faces that brings comfort.

I've never been one to keep a "diary", so writing this blog is itself a new thing. It's sometimes hard to put in words what I may be thinking or feeling at the time, much less what I thought about during the day. But, I hope that as time goes on it will get easier. I'm going to keep it up....motto for the day!

Have a great life! kimsue

Okay, so I lied

Okay, so I lied.....while laying in bed last night, I decided that it really is about losing weight. However, I am going to try to balance those things in my life to hopefully make the journey easier. My attempt is to use some of my "loves" to help me stay away from the extra food. I'm trying to turn my mindset into the "eat to live, not live to eat."

I walked on the treadmill last night. It sure made for a different day today. I was so much more awake and alert. Got tons of work done because I was able to concentrate. I wasn't just thinking about what I was going to eat and when. I also started keeping track of my calories on calorieking.com. If you haven't seen that program, I would suggest you take a look. It's so helpful in counting not only calories, but also fat grams, sodium, carbohydrates.....anything that you may be having trouble with. It's helpful for those that are diabetic because they can keep track of sugars. I love it because it has just about any kind of food you could ever dream of in it's database, but you can always add those items they don't have. You can also add your favorite recipes to figure out what calories they may hold. So far, it seems to be a success for me if I start the morning by putting everything in that I eat for the day. It allows for planning. Isn't that what most of life is about, good planning?

I was going to get up this morning and walk again, but got lazy. So, as punishment to myself, I did my son's chores of unloading/loading the dishwasher and taking out the trash. Augh! That'll teach me! So, I'm going to cut it short for now, so that I can get in a walk, shower, and finish the book I'm reading. Balance. Enjoyment!

bye for now......think of all the great possibilites for you! kimsue

Here it goes!

I've decided to start a blog about my journey to health. I'm not just trying to lose weight, exercise, calm down. I'm trying to become a more rounded person. Maybe trying to even out things along the way. There are so many things in life to do, it's sometimes hard to find the time to do them all, so that's what I've decided to blog about. How do we find the time to do all of the things we enjoy, while at the same time keeping up with the everyday "chores"......I don't know that answer.....but am looking.

I have two things that I truly love to do: 1) Scrapbooking, the art of keeping track of pictures, thoughts, and stuff in a somewhat organized fashion and 2) reading. So, my adventure here is to try to find a way to do these things while watching what I eat and adding more exercise to my life. Sound like too much.....maybe, but I'm going to try.

Please stay tuned for future posts.....kimsue
